T2000 Guide
The three SenseCAP T2000 trackers look almost identical. They share the same rugged IP67 case, the same tamper alarm and the same accelerometer. What separates them is how they are powered, whether they can use Wi-Fi to find themselves, and where you are allowed to fit them.
This guide explains the differences between the T2000-A, T2000-B and T2000-C, when the B's Wi-Fi earns its place, when the solar C makes sense, and what ATEX certification does and doesn't tell you. If you are still deciding between the T2000 and the smaller T1000, start with our T2000 vs T1000 comparison. If you already have one, skip to adding it to Trackpac.
Everything in the table comes from Seeed's T2000 documentation. Battery life figures are Seeed's, and as Seeed points out, real life depends on your interval, positioning mode and where the tracker is fitted.

Every T2000 is the same 117 × 65 × 30mm, 180g box in a glass-fibre reinforced case, rated IP67. You screw it to a container or vehicle, strap it to an animal, or stick it on with 3M double-sided tape. Outdoors it finds its position with GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou and QZSS, and Seeed claims 5 to 10m accuracy. One unit covers every LoRaWAN region: you set the frequency plan in the SenseCraft app, EU868 for the UK and Europe.
All three have the tamper button on the back. Mount the tracker so the button is held in, and removing it raises a top-priority alarm that sends the position every minute for 3 minutes by default. It is on out of the box. All three also have a 3-axis accelerometer for start moving, end movement, motionless and shock events. That one is off by default ("Enable 3-axis sensor" in the app) because it uses more power, so turn it on if you want movement-triggered alerts.
None of them has a button. A supplied magnet does the job: tap it 4 times on the sensor area to switch on or off, and twice to turn Bluetooth on for the app. Each can also store up to 1,000 positions while out of coverage and send them when it reconnects, an option that is off by default.
GPS + Bluetooth (+ Wi-Fi)
GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou outdoors, Bluetooth beacon scans, and Wi-Fi scans on the T2000-B.
Anti-tamper alarm

Optional: stores positions out of coverage and sends them when it reconnects.
Screw, strap or stick
Screw it to containers and trucks, strap it to livestock, or use 3M tape.
Specifications from Seeed's SenseCAP T2000 documentation.
For most outdoor assets, the A does everything you need. Plant parked on open sites, trailers in yards, containers on the move: all of them can see the sky, so GPS gives a good fix, and the A's 8000mAh battery means you fit it and leave it.
That battery is a primary lithium thionyl chloride cell, not a rechargeable one. Seeed quotes over one year with an hourly GPS fix and up to 7 to 9 years with longer intervals. The A is also rated from -40 to +85°C, which suits kit that sits in a frozen yard or bakes in the sun. Our T2000 battery life guide explains what moves you between those two figures.
GPS needs a view of the sky. Inside a building, under a canopy or in a yard hemmed in by tall sheds, the tracker can search for the full GPS timeout and still come back with nothing. That costs battery and leaves a gap on the map.
The T2000-B adds a passive Wi-Fi scanner. It listens for nearby access points and reports up to 5 of them with their signal strength. The tracker doesn't work out the position itself: the platform has to look the access points up. Trackpac's location engine does that automatically, so you don't need to buy a geolocation API key or write any code.
The B is worth it for depots, warehouses, yards with buildings and customer sites in built-up areas. For kit that moves between indoors and outdoors, set the positioning strategy to "GNSS + Wi-Fi" so it tries GPS first and falls back to Wi-Fi, or "Wi-Fi + GNSS" to try Wi-Fi first and save battery. Wi-Fi is no help in an open field with no access points nearby, so for kit that never goes near a building, the A does the same job.
All three versions can also scan Bluetooth beacons. That only gives a position if beacons are installed at known points around your site, so it is something to plan rather than switch on. Talk to us if you need it.
The C replaces the A's 8000mAh primary cell with a 4000mAh rechargeable battery and a 0.5W solar panel. Seeed describes the result as multi-year, low-maintenance running under regular sunlight and moderate uplink intervals. The key words are "regular sunlight".
It makes sense for assets that live outdoors in daylight: tower lights and equipment left on open ground, machinery parked in the open, or animals out in the fields. Mount it where the panel gets light and isn't shaded by bodywork. It makes much less sense on anything that spends its life inside a shed, under a cover or in the dark.
There are trade-offs. The C works from -20 to +60°C rather than -40 to +85°C, and Seeed rates charging at 0 to 45°C, so don't count on the panel topping up the battery in a frost. The battery is half the size, and Seeed doesn't publish a figure for how long it runs without sun. The C is not ATEX certified. And it has no Wi-Fi, so it is a GPS and Bluetooth tracker like the A.
Seeed states that the T2000-A and T2000-B are ATEX certified, which is relevant if your kit works in or near potentially explosive atmospheres. The solar T2000-C is not ATEX certified.
Seeed's wiki says only "ATEX certified". It doesn't publish the zone, equipment category or gas group. Before you fit a T2000 anywhere classified as a hazardous area, ask your supplier for the certificate, check the marking on the unit against your zone classification, and follow your own site safety rules. Don't assume an ATEX mark means it can go anywhere.
A quick way to decide: start with the A. Move to the B if buildings get in the way of GPS, and to the C if the tracker lives in daylight and you're happy with a narrower temperature range.
Excavators, dumpers and generators parked in the open get a clear view of the sky. GPS is all you need, and the A's battery and temperature range cover the rest.
Where kit spends time near or inside buildings, Wi-Fi gives a position when GPS can't. Set it to GNSS + Wi-Fi so it still uses GPS outdoors.
The A for assets that spend their life on the road and in open yards; the B if they also sit in covered depots or near customer buildings.
Tower lights, field equipment and other assets that stay out in daylight all year. Worth it where you'd rather not rely on a single battery.
Seeed lists cattle and horses with strap mounting. Animals out in the fields get daylight, so the C is an option; the A suits colder or shadier ground.
Only the A and B are ATEX certified. Check the certificate and marking against your zone and your own safety rules before you fit one.

Seeed Studio sells all three direct: T2000-A, T2000-B and T2000-C. In the UK, The Pi Hut stocks the T2000-A at £48 including VAT at the time of writing (October 2026). It ships within the UK only, because of the lithium battery. The Pi Hut doesn't list the B or C, so order those from Seeed. Our SenseCAP T2000 page has the specifications and links in one place.
Before you order, check two things. First, how you will mount it: the tamper alarm only works if the button on the back is held in, so plan for screws or a strap on a flat surface. Second, coverage. The T2000 has no SIM and needs a LoRaWAN gateway in range. Seeed quotes up to 9.6km in open country, but real range depends on gateways and terrain. Our guide to checking LoRaWAN coverage in the UK explains how to find out.
The setup is the same for all three versions and they all use the SenseCAP T2000 device type. The Trackpac network is a private LoRaWAN network that roams onto Helium and other public LoRaWAN networks, so where there is coverage you don't need your own gateway or network server. Trackpac decodes everything the tracker sends; on an A or C, there are simply no Wi-Fi scans.
Switch it on with the magnet
The T2000 has no button. Hold the supplied magnet near the sensor area and tap 4 times quickly: the green LED lights and it goes straight into Bluetooth pairing.
Connect with the SenseCraft app
In Seeed's SenseCraft app, open Device Bluetooth Configuration, choose SenseCAP Asset Tracker T2000 and select the tracker by its serial number. Set the frequency plan for your region: EU868 in the UK and Europe.
Choose Other Platform and copy the keys
Change Platform to "Other Platform" and set the APP EUI to 545241434B504143. Copy the Device EUI, APP EUI and APP Key, then tap Send.
Add it in Trackpac
In Trackpac, go to Devices, tap +, choose "Enter Keys Manually", paste the three keys and pick SenseCAP T2000 as the device type. Trackpac's network roams onto Helium, so you don't need your own network server.
Test outdoors, then mount it
Give it its first GPS fix outside so it can set its clock from the satellites. Then mount it so the tamper button on the back is held in, or the tamper alarm will fire.

Get Started
Add a T2000-A, T2000-B or T2000-C to Trackpac for live location, geofences and tamper alerts on one dashboard, from £15 / €18 per tracker per year.
All three share the same IP67 case (117 × 65 × 30mm, 180g), GPS and Bluetooth positioning, a 3-axis accelerometer and a tamper alarm. The T2000-A runs on an 8000mAh non-rechargeable battery and works from -40 to +85°C. The T2000-B is the same but adds Wi-Fi scanning for positioning near buildings and indoors. The T2000-C swaps the big battery for a 4000mAh rechargeable battery and a 0.5W solar panel, works from -20 to +60°C and is not ATEX certified. The A and B are ATEX certified.
Seeed states that the T2000-A and T2000-B are ATEX certified. The solar T2000-C is not. Seeed's wiki doesn't publish the zone, equipment category or gas group, so before you fit a T2000 in a potentially explosive atmosphere, get the certificate, check the marking on the unit against your zone classification, and follow your own site safety rules.
No. The T2000-A and T2000-B use a primary lithium thionyl chloride (Li-SOCl2) cell, which is not rechargeable. Seeed quotes over one year at hourly GPS updates and up to 7 to 9 years with longer intervals. If you want a T2000 that recharges, the T2000-C has a rechargeable battery that is topped up by its built-in solar panel.
GPS needs a view of the sky, so none of the T2000 models get a GPS fix inside a building or a steel container. The T2000-B can also scan nearby Wi-Fi access points, which a platform such as Trackpac turns into a position, so it is the one to choose for yards, depots and warehouses with buildings around. All three can scan Bluetooth beacons, but that needs beacons installed at known positions.
Seeed Studio sells all three versions direct. In the UK, The Pi Hut stocks the T2000-A, at £48 including VAT in October 2026, and delivers it within the UK only because of the lithium battery. The Pi Hut doesn't list the T2000-B or T2000-C, so buy those from Seeed.
